As Thanksgiving approaches, there are so many important things to be thankful for that I was totally overwhelmed when considering what to paint, so I dumped all my serious ideas and decided to go in a more frivolous direction...but the Gravenstein apple pies~ baked by Mom's Apple Pie in Sebastopol, CA~ are actually worth being serious about. I've never eaten a pie quite this delicious. Seriously!

This whimsical metal sculpture, found in the town of Sebastopol CA, is an artsy tribute to Lewis Carroll's white rabbit of Alice in Wonderland fame. Always busy and self-important, this hurried rabbit popped into my head when I learned that this week's theme was busy.

I think I prefer the black and white version, as the sky in the colored painting is too dark for my taste. I usually do a pale wash for background, but I have noticed that when I scan my finished product some of the color fades and, as a result, the sky looks almost white. Has anyone else found this to be the case?

At any rate, I made an effort to really blue that ol' sky this time but now I think that I overdid it. Oh well. What's done is done...at least as far as this week's contribution is concerned.

I loved the topic this week; buildings are fun.
